Spring 2025 Junior Race Team

We are excited to offer sailors the opportunity to join our race team, where they can develop their skills in sailing and racing within a supportive, group environment. This program allows sailors to participate in regattas and spend more time on the water throughout the year, helping them grow both their technical skills and passion for the sport.

Participants must be between 8 and 19 years old, and hold a minimum of CanSail Level 2. There are only 8 spots available per season.

Price breakdown: $275 + $75 for charter, equals to $68.75/month

Program Overview:

Sailors typically begin their racing journey around the age of 8, sailing the Opti. As they progress, they move on to double-handed sailing in the 420, and later to single-handed boats such as the Laser or Laser Radial. The transition to these boats generally occurs around age 15, once the athlete reaches a weight of 120-130 lbs and has the appropriate height for the boats.

Lifejackets
Watches
Appropriate sailing clothing

If you are uncertain about which boat your sailor should start with, please don’t hesitate to reach out for further guidance.

Practice Schedule:

Thursdays: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Saturdays: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Practice sessions will run from April 3 to June 22.

Regatta Schedule:
Kitten Cup: April 26-27 (Vancouver)
Spring Dinghies: May 3-4 (Victoria)
WAVES: June 21-22 (Vancouver)
BC Opti Championship / ILCA District 6 Championship: June 28-29 (Comox)

Training Camps:
We are also offering the option to attend various training camps. More details will be provided as they become available.
